VPN vs. ThinAnywhere The main flaw with a VPN is that it takes an unprotected external machine and gives it the same privileges as a machine on your internal network. The fact that a client machine has a VPN client installed does not provide any guarantee that the machine is administered with the same level of security such as anti-virus software or firewall protection. However, with a VPN solution that unprotected machine will then be able to spread viruses to your corporate network. ThinAnywhere bypasses this security risk by never making the client machine a physical part of your corporate network. Because a ThinAnywhere client only receives images of the application running on the ThinAnywhere server, a virus can never spread to your internal network.
